So we had a little trip to Basingstoke and I picked up four records, all at a quid a pop, which is more than I would expect for a 12” in these shops, but what the hell, it was for the RSPCA, and I do like animals, so take my money. The four I added to the shelves were:
First up, the classic track, “Love Shack” by The B-52’s. 12”, in excellent condition as well.
I also grabbed a real good condition of Madonna’s “Into The Groove”. Back in 1985, when this came out I was 9 and did like my pop at the time, and Madonna was big news at the time, had her album on cassette. So might as well add it to the collection.
Then I found myself in a different charity shop and picked these two up, just for a bit of fun really as they were a quid each.
Suzi Quatro – Greatest Hits. A compilation on RAK Records released in 1980. One to have a play and see what it’s like at some point. Why not.
And the final pick up was another Greatest Hits, this time The Beach Boys. From 1970 and have the classic I know like “California Girls”, “God Only Knows”, “I Get Around”, “Barbara Ann” and more. My Dad used to play The Beach Boys when I was a kid, I can recall I used to borrow one of his LP’s as well. But now I have this one in my collection.
And this is the one I used to borrow from my Dad: “20 Golden Greats” – info: https://www.discogs.com/Beach-Boys-20-Golden-Greats/master/78046
So four records, four pound spent, not all that bad really. Nothing overly exciting, just some good tunes.
